Paul was born in England in 1953. At 16 he joined the National Youth
Jazz Orchestra, and 2 years later attended The Guildhall School of Music,
studying the contrabass. Until the age of 23, Paul played many residences,
clubs, concerts and tours, visiting over 25 countries. He became one of
London's elite session musicians with album credits for artists such as
Elton John, Vangelis, Cliff Richard, John Miles, Stephen Bishop, Andy
Williams, José Carreras, Hot Chocolate, Madonna, Jennifer Rush,
Justin Haywood (Moody Blues), John Williams (guitar), The Royal Philharmonic
and London Symphony Orchestras, and for writers and producers like Lieber
& Stoller, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Phil Ramone, George Martin, Gus Dudgeon
and Mickey Most.
Paul has worked for more than a dozen British TV companies with the orchestras
of Alyn Ainsworth, John Coleman and Ray Monk, Accompanying artists such
as Tom Jones, Barry Manilow, Janet Jackson, Al Jarreau, Gloria Estefan,
Randy Crawford, Shirley Bassey, Chuck Berry, The Temptations, Joe Cocker,
Dionne Warwick, George Benson and the Pointer Sisters.

His film credits include movies with composers Michel Le Grand, Hans
Zimmer, John Barry, Philip Sarde, Trevor Jones, David Bowie, Sex Pistols,
Paul McCartney, Peter Knight and Debbie Wiseman.
He has played in many London stage show productions including Cats, Les
Misérables, West Side Story and Chess. He has toured with Charles
Aznavour, John Dankworth and Cleo Laine, Cliff Richard, Elkie Brooks,
Michael Crawford, and worked with many Jazz musicians including Steve
Gadd, Wayne Shorter, Joe Beck, Warren Bernhardt, Larry Coryell and Jon
Hiseman.

Paul teaches at The Royal Academy of Music, King's College and Stowe
School, and has held master classes at the Bass Centre, The Academy and
The Musicians' Institute. He produced a tuition video called "The
Complete Bass Guitar Player" in 1992, which has been sold throughout
Europe. His compositions and TV themes have been used extensively all
over the world.
Recently he has been on 3 major European jazz tours with Barbara Thompson's
Paraphernalia, appearing at over 350 concerts. He has written several
articles for music magazines, and is at present involved in writing, producing
and recording 2 albums of his own material.
